Seigneur de Fontimple Vacqueyras
The story of Fontimple is one of the legends handed down from generation to generation among the winegrowing families in the village. It tells how a landowner in the Middle Ages, a noble who lived in Vacqueyras, had estates throughout much of the region. He used to grow mulberry trees to raise silkworms. Rich and universally admired, he had a reputation for producing the finest taffetas and other fabrics. A lover of good wines, he decided to plant vineyards on his estate and discovered the extraordinary elegance and silkiness of the resulting wines. From then on, he left the silk trade, replaced all the other crops with vines and devoted his entire life to winegrowing. The Seigneur de Fontimple’s wines were soon recognized throughout the region for their incredible finesse, smoothness and silkiness. He actively promoted Vacqueyras wines and encouraged all his neighbours to devote themselves to growing vines on this outstanding terroir. Today, a hamlet in the Vacqueyras vineyards proudly bears the name of Fontimple and, when you visit the vineyards there, you see how the legend has become reality. Our special cuvée,
Seigneur de Fontimple, pays tribute to the fine terroir in Vacqueyras, reflecting its history and living up to
its reputation for dedicated winegrowers and characterful wines. Our old vines grow mainly on terraces
covered with rounded stones and garrigue, where they benefit fully from the sun and mistral.
Blend: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan
Winemaking & ageing methods:

the very most of the Vacqueyras terroir. Our cellarmaster carefully tastes all the vats and selects the best.
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats to retain a maximum aroma.
The bouquet of ripe fruit, blackcurrant coulis, strawberry jam, spice, and violets shows that this is a great Vacqueyras. Smooth and rich on the palate with soft tannins that marries well with the licorice flavors. Very long aftertaste confirming this wine’s character and elegance.
This Vacqueyras makes a perfect accompaniment to veal chops with rosemary, cep omelette, or even chocolate mousse.
